Project Summary

As a British contemporary art dealer and gallery, White Court Art asked us to design their new e-commerce website, following existing trends for the industry. Their portfolio of artwork values range from £100s to £10,000s, so it was important that visitors could search the artwork and make offers. As well as a very large portfolio, the client wanted each art listing to be flexible so that they could highlight different features for each piece.

How we helped

We designed a new e-commerce website for White Court Art with a complex, custom built stock management system at the back-end. The staff at White Court Art have full control over their art products and can add a variety of different elements of content, including video and audio, to display the artwork in its best light. They also have full management of the categories and organisation of the display to maximise visitor user experience. With all of this capability, the e-commerce interface is very easy to use with simple fields and uploads.

Artist Profile

Having an artist profile page was important for a few different reasons. These pages are optimised for SEO, ensuring they rank highly when the artist is searched for. Additionally, these pages allowed visitors to contact artists through White Court Art. This opened up opportunities for commissioned artwork for the artists, which White Court Art would facilitate.

Follow Artist

Following an artist was important for White Court Art, as this allowed them to collect a database of email addresses and the artists that users were interested in. This approach enabled them to market to their database with updates specific to the artists the users were interested in, thereby increasing user engagement.

Purchase Options

In the art world, buying artwork isn’t as straightforward as purchasing a regular product. Often, there is some negotiation and sometimes prices are listed as “Price On Application” (POA). We accommodate this by allowing users to “Make an Offer” only on manually selected artworks. These offers can be reviewed and either accepted or countered by White Court Art.
